Is there an age limit to enter as I am 15

Report this as offensive

@Cornelius: There’s a maximum age limit of 30, but no minimum limit - please consult the entry criteria.

However you’ll need a sufficient body of quality work for the judges to consider: please see my previous comment on this issue. Hope this helps.

Is it necessary to send a regular CV? i don’t understand the relevance of my work history??

Report this as offensive

@Cris Jarvis:

Hi Cris, yes we would like a CV as part of the application. We appreciate that a career history may seem more relevant to e.g. a filmmaker but as a DJ / producer you can still include your experience to date - gigs you’ve played, songs / albums you’ve produced etc.

Hope this helps,
Helen

i dont have a CV ! Do you need me to make one ? I wouldnt know where to start !!

Report this as offensive

@Cris Jarvis: Yes we would like one. Briefly talk about your education and any relevant qualifications but focus on your experience in your creative field and any creative projects you are particularly proud of.

Look forward to receiving your entry
Thanks, Helen

Hi ! I am a mature student and have just graduated at age 34 from Graphic design and digital media - I see that you have an age limit for applicants - I find this quite ageist!!!!!!!! I am a graduate of design surely I can still apply!!!!
Thanks
Nicola

@Nicola ni Dubhtaigh: Thanks for your comments. A few people have raised this issue: please see my earlier response for more detail.

An age limit is the easiest way to put a cap on applicants’ level of experience in a given industry, and thus help us to define ‘new’ talent. We’ll re-consider the entry requirements for 2009 in light of the comments we’ve received, but I’m afraid we’re unable to change them at this stage.

All the best
Nick

Do entrants need to be British citizens? I am living in the UK and hope to move here permanently, but currently I am not a permanent resident. Can I enter?

Thanks,
Kimberley

Report this as offensive

@Kimberley: As stated in the terms and conditions: “The 4TA are only open to residents of the United Kingdom. Proof of address may be required before Award recipients can claim an Award.”

Hope this helps, thanks
Helen

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes. I saw that. I do have an address here as I have been living here for more than a year. But I was just wondering if it is enough that I live here or is reserved for citizens or permanent residents.

Thanks again. Sorry if I am over-thinking…

@Kimberley: Hi Kimberley, yes you can enter the awards. Thanks, Helen

If I want to submit a novel: this comes under the “wildcard” category, I take it? And if so, do I have to submit the manuscript in its entirety, or perhaps just the first 10,000 words…?

Thanks!

Report this as offensive

@Nige: Yes, you will need to enter the Wildcard category. The judges will not have time to read 10,000 words - submit extracts from the novel and a synopsis. Thanks, Helen

I have just graduated and have a BA (hons) in Animation. My degree film is an 8 minute stop-motion piece and is packed full of my own creativity and talent. I have other work that I have done prior to my degree film but I do not feel it shows my potential in the same way. Is it possible to submit one really good film?

Report this as offensive

@jessica Cope: Yes, obviously the judges want to see what you feel is your best work.

Daer Sir / Madam,

Please could you clarify how many projects are required ? Preferably, I would like to focus on the project I am sending in.

‘one-page self-sell, outlining the projects you’re most proud of and clearly identifying your role in ‘

With thanks,

Howie Fifer

Report this as offensive

@Howie Fifer: If you mean you only want to submit one project then yes, that’s fine.

Report this as offensive

@Helen Byrne: i got an e-mail possibly automated, reminding me to send a cv and 1 page self sell, i did send them already did you not receive my letters ? please let me know and i will send again if necessary !

Report this as offensive

@cris jarvis: Yes I have received them. The email was sent to everyone who has entered the awards so far; if you have already sent in your supporting material, ignore the email.

Hi Helen,

I just dropped my entry in the post box.

Let’s hope curiosity don’t get the better of the opportunists working at Royal Mail. I now turn to prayer for its safe delivery. It’s all we have. Prayer. Stamps are misunderstood.

Thanks for the opportunity, Channel 4. You haven’t heard the last of me.

Keep that door open, or we’ll simply bum-rush it like the new advert you have. You have indirectly given us that green light. (no one was upset with the smashed glass…just curious)

Hi

Are these awards open to people who are aleardy established in their chosen field..? The artist I represent is alreday on BBC & MTV but would like to gain more mainstream exposure and feels they have more to offer to the media world..?

Or is it just for people who have not had a break at all..?

Please let me know asap

Many Thanks

MissP

Report this as offensive

@Miss P: Please see the entry criteria: the only restriction is that entrants must be 30 or under on 31/12/08. Previous exposure and success is great, the judges need something to judge them on after all!

To whom it may concern,

My friends and me have our own amatuar production company, would we be able to apply as one unit or would we have to apply individually?

Thank you

Hollie

Report this as offensive

@Hollie M: You can apply as a partnership or individually. If you apply together only one award will be given with equal accreditation to each party. However you decide to enter make sure your role is clear in each piece of work.

Hope this helps, Helen

Thinking about what the various things I can do, I’d put myself under the multi award, however I really want to focus on Presenting. Is there any other specific requirements other than a 10min reel?

Regards, Carly

Report this as offensive

@Carly Lindon-Forrester: We always want to encourage people to play to their strengths, if you feel presenting is your strongest work then enter that category. We just need the showreel plus supporting material - a CV and one page self-sell.

Hello 4talent!
I was wondering,
For the writing categories, when it says up to 3 scripts + 50 word synopses.
Is that a 50 word synopses for each script you submit?

I know it seems like a silly question but I’m paranoid about submitting three synopses for three scripts and only one of them getting read.
Please can you put my mind at ease.

Arthur.

Report this as offensive

@Arthur Sloman: Hi, you will need one synopsis for each script you submit i.e. 3 scripts = 3 synopses.

Hi there…. I’m applying for 4Talent for a 3-piece pop band and, whilst a one page self-sell is fine, I’m sure you can appreciate that as a band we don’t have a CV! In any case a CV would be likely to include the same information as the one-pager… what do you advise?

ps. I could send you my CV as an individual and as the main representative but I think that might be a bit pointless as it’s not necessarily relevant to the work the band has done (and therefore to our application).

Chris

Report this as offensive

@Chris: Yeah I see what you mean, we wont need individual CVs, just make sure you include information about gigs you’ve played, albums etc in the self-sell.

Thanks, Helen

Hello,

Me and my writing partner are submitting our comedy sketch show we are writing. In the criteria for comedy writing it mentions 3 scripts, would you like to see three entire scripts for three shows. With all the different characters etc that pop up. Or a sample?

Reason i ask is some of the sketches start then go to different sketch then come back to complete the joke. I suppose what im asking is shall we submit the script for the episode or for each individual sketch!

Thanks for your help, Good luck to everybody.

As part of the 3 docs I want to submit for the long documentary category, I want to include the fine cut of the project I am currently working on - as I think this will significantly bolster my application.

It is in good condition and the only things you would notice is that the v/o is my guide voice and it hasn’t been ‘onlined’.

Is this okay?

Also, do you show the work of the winners publicly? If you do, I would need to get the permission of the various broadcasters (who, of course, own the rights to the films).

I know this is a bit late in the day (I will need to get the projects in the last post today to make the deadline), but if you do read this in time and can reply, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.
