For those of you who haven’t heard, unfortunately the 4Talent Networks team won’t be around in 2009.
What’s 4Talent ‘Networks’, you may cry? Well, we’re the bods who run 4Talent magazine, the 4Talent Awards and the splendid 4Talent editorial hubs in London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Belfast. Not to mention much of the on-the-ground activity you may have taken part in over the years - like Pilot, Raw Cuts, Radio HaHa and the Mobile Game Pitch.
Sad news indeed of course, but fear not: under the management of Jo Taylor and her team channel4.com/4talent will continue as your access point to all C4’s new talent commissioning strands - like 3 Minute Wonder, First Cut, Comedy Lab and Coming Up - not to mention work-related-learning schemes like Generation Next and the Work Experience Scheme.
Channel 4’s regional presence will continue through 4iP, a joint-funded initiative to encourage innovative public-service projects online.
And the outgoing team behind 4Talent Networks are busy hatching various plans to carry on the legacy with an innovative new resource, packed with insider knowledge and opportunities to get all you fiercely creative people with proven talent firmly on the radar of clients, employers and commissioners.
We’ll be knocking on your doors early in 2009. In the meantime we wish you all very Merry Christmas.

Ludicrous short sighted management from C4 – surely you need to protect your investment in the talent of the future?

I am blooming gutted. 4Talent’s presence in Birmingham has been really important to me, and Cat Bray has been particularly fantastic in helping me add experience to my CV.
I guess that means rather than 11 chances to win a 4talent award, I have none. But never mind!
I feel that C4 feel that they have ‘talent schemes’ wrapped up by using Skins as a platform to find people but Skins is not the finest of programming, no matter what its audience figures might suggest. It has a niche market that will not get all areas of talent noticed.
Luckily Nick, Helen and Cat are clearly talented, bright and have great futures and I wish them all the luck in the world and a big thanks too.

Thanks for the good wishes Frankie!
I’m actually off to London in January for a brand new job with a different broadcaster - I’ll be blogging all about it shortly, but in the meantime, stay in touch. My gmail email will stay the same and you can find me as ever over on http://catherinebray.wordpress.com/
It’s been fantastic working on 4Talent, and I’m confident that the efforts of Nick and others to keep the best bits of the networks going in new forms will pay off. You ain’t heard the last of these people…

4TNI has been an invaluable service to myself and plenty others who availed of their workshops (that were always in high demand) and fantastic advice via the website and emails.
All I can say is I enjoyed it while it lasted and thank you to all at C4 management who spent the money in areas that are usually ignored, and to those working in the regional hubs who encouraged and inspired us to aim a bit higher. Thanks guys!

Really sad news
Thanks for all you have done.
I hope you all find gainful employment very soon as you have great experience at the most important end of talent search.
The deadlines set by the channel four comps were a great motivator and focus.
When i made a final and visited channel four i always tell how friendly and down to earth everyone was.
I have since self produced my radio play and have work on stage this summer.
Thanks to you lot.
Very Very best wishes and hope your all back soon

Thanks Guys for all your hard work, and it’s been really useful to connect 4 Talent Mag with http://www.StartinTV.com.
Very much the same aims of helping young talent get into the industry- and maybe some of you guys would consider some input into the developing StartinTV Careers-guidance-service and CV-posting website?
If we don’t help the future of the industry, I don’t know where we’ll be!
Best

Thanks for your comments everyone.
Please note that Channel 4’s regional presence will continue through 4iP, a joint-funded initiative to encourage innovative public-service projects online - and the 4Talent site will be re-launched and continue as a portal to Channel 4’s other talent development initiatives.

Really sorry to hear guys, you guys run a fantastic resource that I certainly see as my first call to nurturing creative talent. I’ve been a victim of the credit crunch of late myself, it’s definately a sign of the times. All the best for the future and look forward to your reinvention,
Cheers for all your help!

That’s a great shame, the 4Talent Animation Inspiration day was the best thing that happened to me, it helped inspire me to go to university to do an animation course, which I am now enjoying every minute of.
I look forward to seeing whatever you all do manage to come up with in these crunching times.
